Day 10...Flying

Well ladies and gents, today was our last day of intersession. What a way to end such a wonderful 2 weeks. WE WENT FLYING!!! I had such an amazing day. Thanks to the parents who came and helped out today. Thanks to all the parents who helped drive everyday!

Your final HW assignment is just a reflection about the last two weeks. Tell me how you felt during intersession time. Tell me how much you loved/hated it, what you learned, how I can make it better for next year. Don't hold back Be honest!

You are such a great group and I love having you all for intersession! I can't wait until next year!!!

Day 9...It was a "Blast!"


We were in Fiesta Island today. We lifted off all of our rockets that we've been building. It was awesome!!! Thanks to all the parents who came out to help, watch, take pictures! We all appreciated it.
We go flying tomorrow in Gillespie Field. We'll be flown around by the Young Eagles. BRING YOUR WAIVERS!
HW:
1. What were some commonalities between all the launches yesterday?
2. What were the reasons for some of the failed launches yesterday?
3. BONUS: How did we use each step of the scientific method when building and launching our rockets?

Day 8...A Sad Day:(




Today was our last day at the museum together. I hope you all said your goodbye's. It was hard to keep the tears in, I hope no one saw me cry:( Ok, Ok, I'm kidding! Anyways, we had an awesome 5 days there and we have an even more exciting 2 days ahead of us. DON'T FORGET YOUR FLYING WAIVER!!!

Day 7...Viking Rockets!!


Today we build our Viking Rockets. They are going to launched on Thursday, at Fiesta Island! It will be an awesome day!


Tomorrow is our last day at the Air and Space Museum...BooHoo...but still, we have more fun ahead! make sure you bring the Young Eagles waiver in to me. If I don't have it on Friday, YOU CAN'T GO FLYING!!!!

1. If it takes 2000 pounds of fuel to get 1 pound of payload into space, how many pounds of fuel does it take to get 400,000 pounds of payload to space?


2. In order for us to go lift off our rockets on Thursday, you need to be familiar with the "Model Rocket Safety Codes." Please tell me all 11 safety codes and what they mean.

Monday...Day 6


Today was fun. We worked with flight simulators most of the day and used our knowledge of instrument panels and lat/longs to guide us to specific places. Nice work to everyone today!!!

HW:
1. What is the difference between True North and Magnetic North?
2. What does an Attitude Gyro do?
3. If 1 Nautical Mile = 1.15 Statute Miles, the 35.5 Statute Miles = how many Nautical Miles?
4. If 1 Nautical Mile = 1.15 Statute Miles, the 150 Statute Miles = how many Nautical Miles?
5. Define"Airfoil."
